burn one's waffles

idiom. This is said of something annoying in a charred-breakfast-food kind of way.

Related terms: burn one's toast, grate one's cheese, warm one's cocoa, melt one's butter.

Real citation: "Forgive me for shouting, but this stuff burns my waffles. It's the same junk we heard from Chris Matthews' crew and all the other clique queens in the press about Al Gore as Gore was wowing crowds and closing in for the kill in 2000. "

Made-up citation: "The Democratic party's lack of guts, brains, and vision really burns my waffles, but thinking about last weekend's keg party really warms my cocoa."
